Siemens Healthcare wins $69m contract with Iraqi Ministry of Health at Arab Health

The Siemens Healthcare Sector, one of the world’s largest suppliers to the healthcare industry and a trendsetter in medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics and medical information technology, announced today a contract win of $69m to supply state-of-the-art diagnostics imaging equipment to all Ministry of Health hospitals across Iraq.

The recently signed contract will provide the Iraqi Ministry of Health with unrivalled diagnostic imaging equipment, fully serviced over a period of five years. The products, which include magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography equipment, mobile x-rays and mammography systems, help to increase diagnostic confidence, allowing for earlier detection of diseases.

Commenting on the deal, Maurice Faber, Vice President Siemens Healthcare Sector Middle East, said: “We are very proud to announce this agreement today as it means we are playing an active role in the helping rebuild healthcare services in Iraq. One major result of this contract will be improved healthcare for all Iraqi people, and advanced breast cancer screening facilities for women in Iraq”.

The contract is the biggest single order contract to be awarded to Siemens Healthcare in the Middle East, and comprises a broad range of diagnostic equipment including the MAGNETOM Avanto, the ultimate system for hospitals with the most comprehensive and advanced application range available, the SOMATOM Definition, the world’s first adaptive CT scanner, and the ACUSON X300 ultrasound, amongst others.

The Minister of Health, Iraq, His Excellency Ali Saleh Al Hasnawi, comments, “We are excited to be working closely with Siemens to offer this broad range of diagnostic services to all Ministry hospitals across Iraq.
